I can't seem to find an "import image" button in either Draw Tools/manage tiles or Draw Tools/color painter, yet the user guide instructions mentions it in both.

    ???

Thanks, I've updated the images on that help page.

Though, Import Image is available on "manage Tiles" and "Paint Images" (first and third tools in Draw Tools).

I see, I would try downloading and installing a fresh copy of d20pro in a new directory then try that installation Run as Admin. If that works simply copy the judge directory over to the new install.

Ok, tried it. Unfortunately, I got the same thing. Draw Tools does load a lot slower than most windows, and switching between the tools is also slow, if that's part of the issue at all.

How much RAM do you have allocated to d20Pro? Also, what version of Java are you running?

    Follow-up:
If you increase your allocated RAM to d20Pro does it help?
If you update Java to the newest version, does it help?

I'm running Java 7 but err... how do I allocate more RAM? (looked through the forums, not sure about the best way, too many threads)
    Thanks

This was solved by starting d20Pro from the BAT file :)
