    Hello,

I am new to d20pro so I have a few questions.

Is it possible for me to use d20pro as a local virtual desktop. I want to be able generate tokens and maps with d20pro, but all the dice rolling and statistics would be in paper.

I plan on projecting the battlefield on an external monitor or projector, while keeping GM notes on my laptop (so in a dual screen set up).

I've been tweaking with the program, but so far I only found out how to host an online game or with multiple computers.

    Thanks for the help -D

If you want to use d20Pro as your map and token tool do the following.

Have the extended desktop set up to either a monitor or a projector for your players to see.

Open d20Pro in judge mode put in main screen
Open a second instance of d20Pro in player mode and log into the judge then put that one on the extended desktop.

You do not have to have seperate installs, just open two copies. You can have 1 judge open at a time, but as many player versions as your computer resources can handle.

This is exactly how we ran our campaign for the first few nights.

Even now, when everyone has their own laptop, I still project the main map (we play locally); as it adds to the "feel" of a table-top.

Also, just to reinforce a point.

D20PRO is extremely flexible in how you use it. You never have to utilize the in-game dice; or assign any kinds of values to your tokens.

However, as you get more comfortable with the system, I imagine you will take advantage of more of the software's potential.

While I realize that customizing all of your characters and monsters can be a significant task. The time saved by not manually tracking HP's (and thus slowing down the action) is well worth the time spent (at least) giving all of your players / NPC's HP values.
