CAN YOU PLEASE IMPLEMENT THE NEW SECURITY?!

I am tired of seeing unpronounceable names on the forums (more unpronounceable than usual :D )

These bots have started to overcome widely used security measures like CAPTCHA unfortunately and so the next steps, as far as I'm concerned, are rather restrictive. We've had a number of legitimate new registrations lately and I'm still hesitant to implement the more heavy handed measures to stop the spam. Trust me, I am incredibly annoyed by this also but the very last thing I want to do is make it hard for a frustrated new user to ask questions or find answers to their problems from our great community here. If the spam doesn't abate soon though then we will do what we can to stop it.

As far as the unpronounceable names go ..... wait a minute ..... I see what you did there! ;)

I am totally on the your (D20PRO) side.

Yes the name I sport is randomly generated.

    In 1991.

At a college game table cause I was indecisive.

BUT I SWEAR I AM LEGIT...no really, you can't make this stuff up...really!

Totally OK. I knew you were kidding. I was just having fun with it myself.

    BTW

Bad spam on the Monthly Games board. Needs some attention. Bad pics for Kids to see.

I know you added another security layer of having people register type out gygax .

You could use the following additional security layers to reduce the number of spam bots further...
    Custom Profile ...
    field identification = count
    field type = numbers

    1) Which number is typed.
    1 2 three 4 5
    Default = 5
    lowest allowed number= 3
    highest allowed number= 3

Default code - we need to change
    Code:
'FIELD_TOO_SMALL' => 'The value of “%1$s” is too small, a minimum value of %2$d is required.',
'FIELD_TOO_LARGE' => 'The value of “%1$s” is too large, a maximum value of %2$d is allowed.',

    Use this code
    Code:
'FIELD_TOO_SMALL' => 'The value of “%1$s” is incorrect',
'FIELD_TOO_LARGE' => 'The value of “%1$s” is incorrect.',

    Another layer...
    Custom Profile ...
    field identification = dropdown box
Description = "Are you a spam bot, or do you intend to only solicit other websites after registering?"
    Entries: Yes, No
    profile type specific options...
    Default value = Yes
option equal to non-entered value = Yes

People registering will need to take 3 extra seconds in registering, but it could exclude more spambots.

    And/Or

Could change the captcha type to sortable example
