Does d20Pro support d20Modern/Future etc.? I just downloaded the demo and want to try it out, but don't want to spend too much time if it is just for D&D.

    Hail and well met Fersboo,

The short answer is yes, d20Pro supports any d20 based game. The full answer is at its current stage of development, the software has many features that are coded for D&D 3.5 specific rules. However, a great deal of functionality is supported and hopefully the remaining features will add enough value to aid your games.

The main thing to do is customize the following files found in d20Pro\dm\res\ManuallySpecified :

    • classes.txt
      skills.txt
      feats.txt

There already are a few people using d20Pro for d20Modern games and I'll dig up the prefabbed game files listed above. Also will post a d20Modern "survival guide" similar to the existing one for 4E http://help.mindgene.com/customizing-d20pro/4th-edition-d-d.

If you want to tinker with your install, open your classes.txt and replace it with the following text:
Then restart d20Pro and create a new Creature. Level choices will now be d20Modern specific and BAB calculation will work.

Past that the only main limitation I can think of is Stamina isn't tracked directly. This is a shortcoming we are looking to remedy. In the meantime I suggest you track Stamina in the Notes or Quick Notes.

Please post here or PM me with any questions about molding d20Pro to work with non 3.5 D&D such as d20Modern, Pathfinder, Star Wars, Traveller, Spycraft, et al.

    Re: d20 Modern / d20 Traveller

    Hi-

I am looking for a replacement for GRiP. This looks good. I don't really need it to be universal, since most folks want d20 anyhow.

Can the d20pro system work with T20?

I'm not sure. What is the basic mechanic behind T20? How does combat work?

T20 is Traveller on the d20 system. It uses the base attributes plus Education (EDU) and Social Standing(SOC). You need a d20 core rulebook and the T20 Rules. T20 uses Feats and Skills, has Psionics ('magic' in technoland), races, etc.

It seems like it would work, but I don't know if d20 Pro is as customizable as GRiP. Well, GRiP was universal and could be made to work with any system. Since T20 is based on the d20 system, I would guess that it would work with maybe a little conversion. It's basically d20 Modern / Future with some extra stuff thrown in.

As Thraxxis mentions above, you can edit the feats, classes, and skills files - even the spells file.

d20pro also supports custom ACs or defense scores (go to the Options panel in the GM client to set these). So if your system uses AC, hit points, and d20's for attacks, then I think you are pretty much ok.

I downloaded the demo - I'll check it out and see if I can convert it to T20 and report back my results.

Thanks for being helpful - my d20pro pdf manual seems to be missing. There's an entry in the program group but the actual file is AWOL.

Does that exist anywhere or do we just go by the online guide?

The online guide is the official manual, and is the most up-to-date version of our documentation. Plus, it can support media, attachments, and hyperlinks much better!
