I'm running OS 10.58 on my PowerMac G5 with the freshest install of Java I could find on Apple's website.

When launching the download of D20Pro on this Mac, I get an error stating "you must install java 1.6.0_7 or higher to run. your java version is 1.5.0_19"

where do i find this, since Sun doesn't distribute Java for the Mac, only Apple?

I've checked out apple's download for java 1.6 and it requires an Intel processor. the Java updater i ran earlier today would have updated 1.6 had it found it, but updated the existing 1.5 as far as it could go (build 1.5.0_19-b02-304, 32-bit) for the G5 (non-Intel chip)

is there any hack to get D20Pro to work with previous versions of Java? your instructions on going to the Applications/Utilities/java preferences.app were invaluable for seeing what java is loaded on my mac.

    Hail and well met jsepeta,

You may need to run a Software Update in order to have the latest Java made available. I updated the Mac help with more information. Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

I must say we are impressed by the interest in d20Pro by Mac community and are committed to continually improving your experience with the software. I'm already aware of a few display issues and those will be fixed promptly. Please post here or PM me anytime.

I already *did* run a java update through software update, and apple's update mechanism said I was good. which is to say, i'm screwed if i want to run your product on my G5 because apple's no longer supporting non-Intel processor-based Macs :-( there's no reason why the latest Java won't run -- it's just that Apple doesn't want to spend resources on allowing it to run because this _encourages_ mac users to upgrade. since 10.6 is going to require Intel processors, I'm not terribly surprised that Apple has already stopped updating Java for use on G5 processors which are a generation or 2 behind what's in their current line of products.

D20 pro.app installed without hesitation on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. I first went into the java control panel to make the newest version of java the default. Since MacBook Pro's are all Intel-based, they shouldn't have issues. I don't have my code with me, but once I added my username and password, the installer said I am not registered. What does that mean?

Actually, one of my players is having the same trouble, using a Macbook Pro also. Why is Java support for Mac so difficult! Do you think a Virtual Windows interface would do the trick?
Thanks for all your support... You guys are great.

Ah, I see now I was somewhat myopic in my earlier reply by not considering non Intel based Macs. We need to research this a bit more but early on it seems like it won't be mandatory to require Java 1.6 when 1.5 will do just as well. I see no reason why this capability won't be in d20Pro v2.0.1 due out by end of August. If you would like to help test an early copy of the installer on your G5 please PM me. :)

For redeeming your code, you must first register on the server. If you have not already pressed the Register button at the bottom of the first screen, please do so. You will be logged in automatically once successfully registering. Then click on the Enter Coupon button and put in your voucher code there. You will then be able to download your license to any computer with d20Pro installed.

Please don't hesitate to post or contact us directly with any questions. Thanks for your patience; I'm looking forward to ensuring d20Pro can be enjoyed on as many different architectures as possible. :ugeek:

One of my players. Who is a really really busy person, asked me to pass his MAC problem to your ears. Apparently, he is having trouble installing d20pro. He has 1.42 version of JAVA and his MAC does not download further upgrades. He's got a 2006 15" MacBook running on OS X 10.5. Do you know how to solve his problem. The guys from Mac support don't know why this is happening, they say that their computer is perfect, that it must be a d20pro software problema and that if no updates are called in for his OS, then it's because it is up-to-date. It is really terrible to see this happening. Do you know how can we solve that? Do you know if the new Snow Leopard comes with 1.5 or 1.6 JAVA included? Thanks!
