Is there any discussion of d20Pro moving to 4th edition or to a general format, so that it can support more easily?

I've read the 4th Edition Survival Guide and it does cover most of the issues I original would have had a problem with but I'd like to understand what direction the product is heading before I truly invest in it.

    Hey Crispy,

d20pro is committed to serving the needs of our gaming community. Having said that, we are currently wrangling with the draconian GSL and licensing. d20pro is officially a 3.5 product, but it "plays nicely" with 4th Edition. I am currently running a 4th Edition campaign using d20pro and I'm having very few issues. One of our primary goals in the future is to build in more support for other systems.

We are working on 4th Edition support but it may have to be a separate product due to licensing constraints. We will be discussing this internally in the weeks to come and should have a better answer soon.

any update on this? (I'm guessing so, but since I was a new Forums user, and stopped here first, I figured I'd ask and maybe get a link pointing to the update thread as sort of 'closure'.)

    thanks,

4E support in d20pro is pretty solid with the modifications of a few files (which we supply). Check out our online manual, where we dedicate a section to using d20pro for 4E. I run my 4E campaign with d20pro, by the way, and have no problems.

How do I modify it to handle crits? Everything else is pretty simple to handle and works well.

I even managed to edit the classes.txt file to add the various PHB2 classes, but I don't know how to change the crit damage to max + xdy where x is the magic weapon's + (+1 per tier if high crit) and y is the appropriate die size (d12 for viscious, d10s for vorpral, etc).

There is no internal support for those things right now. In my game, I just manually do that. It's pretty easy to calculate in your head as you confirm damage (1d10+3 is 13), and just modify that damage.

Usually, if a player gets a crit, I announce the crit, type the new damage for the attack (just max the normal damage), then I click the appropriate bonus damage die for magic enhancement or vicious, like d12 or 2d6, etc. Then I hit the D key and manually damage the unit.

This is quick, easy to do, and also separates bonus crit damage from the maxed out normal damage, so players see those as 2 separate calculations. It sounds complicated but is in practice pretty easy and quick to do.
