Have you tried just moving the entire Campaign Folder over? Copy /Paste from old location to new?

Good evening. I downloaded the trial and am planning to probably take advantage of the sale this month to pick up some licenses, as so far this is great. I've followed some of the tutorial videos and created a map from an image (I downloaded some stuff from the "Mad Mapper" that Dan linked in the content subforum), and figured out how to work some of the other features.

However, I'm running into an issue and am hoping there is a solution. When I am making a new map and using tile images to create it, it is very laggy. I downloaded a bunch of the tiles. At first, I imported two whole sets - one of them is just over 300 tiles.

Clicking on the directories for the images in the Draw Tools box takes 30 or so seconds. Then it lags for 30 seconds or so every time I scroll through, click on a tile, try to move a tile, etc. Is this something that could be fixed by allocating more RAM (seen other people post about it, I assume I can do it easily)?

Could it have something to do with my settings? The tiles I imported are supposed to be 6x6, but they are being placed on the map as 2x2. The autoscale is set to 150 DPI - does this affect the size of the tile that is placed?

Is it lagging simply because of the large number of tiles I imported? Or is it something to do with the tiles I imported (they are .PNG in 1200x1200 resolution...would I need to scale them down first)? Also, if they are 1200x1200 resolution, why are they being placed as only 2x2?

Or am I missing something else?

EDIT: just noticed that down at the bottom of the list, there are lots of locked icons. RAM issue?

EDIT 2: Apologies, seems I failed at forum navigation and ended up in Installation support by accident.

Your sluggishness may very well be a memory issue.

There is an upper memory limit setting available on the startup screen at the bottom with an Edit button. This will allow you to allocate more memory to the software as it runs in Java. Crank that up to at least 2 GB and you should see less lag. of course, the larger the picture file, the more memory it will take, so you may need to allocate more to clear up the issue.

The next question was the Autoscale; Yes it changes the scale (size) of the Tile placed.

Thanks. I looked at the source files again. Each image is ~2.5MB in size. Even if I increased my memory limit, that would be a huge map to transmit to players every time. I think I might be best served either by using different tiles, or by resizing.

As for the Autoscale... does scaling it to 50 DPI make it bigger, while scaling to 150 makes it smaller? It also appears that I can manually set this number.

Once you transmit the Map to a player it is on their machine. It will only need to load changes after that.

and for Autoscaling, I believe you are correct.

    Also check this thread:

Additionally, if the upload speed to players is an issue for you, I have utilized a cloud storage method + Sync Software that can work.

OK, now I have a legitimate install problem.

I set the RAM limit to 2GB... I had it set at 1GB before. I have the updated feats/skills/class/spell lists installed. Or at least I thought I did. When I go to creature editing, there are no feats/skills/classes/spells to select from... how do I fix it? I'm sure I saw them before.

    Many thanks! Still learning here.

Edit: it seems that my .txt files got changed. Nothing to see here, move along...

Best way would be to reinstall the ruleset. (I see the edit, so answering if anyone else has this same issue, and to provide multiple ways to solve)

You can do it manually by downloading each text file then placing it in the proper judge/campaigns/[campaign name]/res/ManuallySpecified/ directory, or you can go through d20Pro and download the ruleset (free) and install it. then restart d20Pro.
