Hullo! I am a newbie and still working on learning the d20Pro. I like it so far, I think it to be a good product.
    Now for the mustard:
I am creating a map, and importing a set made for the Barrow of the Forgotten King module. The original author of the maps did a fine job. The grid is included on the floor artwork. When I try to match it up in the "Create Map from Image" slide/step, the # of squares and # of pixels do not increase high enough to match up the grid overlay to the grid included in the artwork. It maxes out at 25x23 squares and 100 pixels. Is there a trick to overide, or should I try saving the original file in a different format to make it smaller...is there a zoom in/out I can use....I have no clue.
    Thank you for your help!

Currently, 100 pixels per inch is the highest our Import from File feature goes.

However, another way to handle very high-res images is to crop them in something like Photoshop or Gimp so that they are exactly X by Y squares.

    • Then copy/paste the map into your d20pro/dm/res/FLR folder
    • Then create a Raw map and specify the dimensions manually (x by y)
    • Last, click the Scale button, navigate to your map, then choose Fill.

Thanks,Dan! I have found your company's help very quick to respond! (I have emailed in past)
Crop in so they are exactly X and Y...? What does that mean? So, I open the map up in GIMP, and just Save As? Or do I need to Adjust Scale Image?? Sorry to be a pain, I am learning as I go...
I have tried opening in the Raw Map, using a 15x16 grid, going to Scale, and using the Fill option, but can't get a good match on the gridlines. The corner squares almost match up, but as you go inward, they are skewed slightly and gradual increase until about 50% off in middle. Does that sound right? Sorry to be a pain in the @rse.

    Hail and well met templar12,

I'll look into the reported limitation in the new map editor.

In the meantime, if you have a calculator handy take a look at the source image and deduce how many pixels per square it is. If the map file is pure, it should be even (like Dunjinni maps are 50x50 pix square). Divide your map images width and height by the number of pixels per square and create a map of that dimension (sounds like you have a pretty big map). Then go to Scale and Fill it.

Please PM me for further technical support on this. If you can beam me the original map image I can diagnose this directly.

    Thraxxis and Dan!
Thank you for your help! You guys at d20Pro rock.
Using GIMP, I got it to work in the manner you described. I didn't fidget with anything this time. I just opened it up, saved it in the FLR. hen followed your instructions.
    See you at GenCon!

The upgrade has made it a LOT easier for map creations. Using the maps in dundjinni and rpgmapshare forums is pretty easy. But maps with prepainted grids on them sometimes do not match exactly well. I find maps I created using the 150pixel "export" setting in dundjinni to be best exact match for grids "painted" in the map already.

    Hi Templar,

Ideally you will want to not use external grid lines on your maps. Since you can create the grid lines for the map to be any size inside of d20Pro, you can make the same map for Giants or Gnomes. However, if it does have existing grid lines, you can grab the map and move it around to line them up as well as make the squares different sizes. If you have any further questions please let us know. If you would like to set up a quick tutorial to go over this (and other d20Pro uses) please email me at nick@mindgene.com and we can figure something out.

    Best regards and Happy Gaming,

    Nick
