I ran my first session last night using d20pro and it was pretty good. I really thought I was going to have buyers remorse, as last fall I'd purchased Fantasy Grounds II(Super high learning curve), but it turned out to be more fun than I expected. I used the Dunjinni Mapping software to create an airship on orange sky. All of my players are remote and we've been using the DDi Virtual Table so they have been spoiled by that system. I wanted more control over tokens, icons and maps so I forced a push to d20 pro. It was definitely a trial by fire but at the end everyone was on board. I've made a list of tweaks that our group needed to address and was hoping I could get some help here.

Initiative: is there any way to make init rolls visible?

4e skills: I don't even know where to start they were listed after import from the DDi CB but as "unknown skills"

Pointer: is there a pointer or is the mark creation the preferred method of players bringing attention to something?

Is there a way to quickly get to an abilities description(hot key)?

Is there a user made 4e bestiary or a repository I can help build?

Attacks vs Fort/Ref/Will: I probably need to look inti this a little more but during the game I couldn't figure it out.

Things I think would be great additions would be:
    DDi .monster importer
    Card like ability interface,
Token rotation(I found a workaround for this but I'll only implement it for epic monsters - no border, saving image facing for all directions and changing them on the fly)

Update: One of my players bought a Judge license w/6 guest so I guess I've gotta up mine, lol.

    Hi Darkwoulfe,

Currently init rolls are only shown to the Judge/DM, and once applied only the order remains. However, you can change the order by having the creature "HOLD" (from the combat icons on the top, the one that looks like an hourglass) then when you want them to go click on the creature and press "G" for "Go Now".

You should download the 4e MannuallySpecified files. Currently residing at: http://www.mediafire.com/?rufzsfg5x7g7nk6
Open the ZIP file and place the contents inside the following directory:
    /MindGene/d20Pro/judge/campaigns/D&D 4e/res/ManuallySpecified/
If you have d20Pro open, close d20Pro, then open d20Pro again and select D&D 4e as the campaign. This will reload the campaign files and update the classes, feats, skills, and spells available. This will also give you access to different status icons and different marker icons you can use.

d20Pro has a "Marker" instead of a pointer. To use a Marker, you can visit the User Guide for a complete description: http://help.d20pro.com/UGGPStory.html This will show you how the Judge can use it, but Players can also create markers and move their markers on the map to draw attention to a particular point on the map.

This would be a Feature Request, post here: http://goo.gl/mod/c9Pl

This is a really good idea. I'm not sure anyone has started one yet, but now might be a good time.

Fort/Ref/Will can be defined in the Options Window under Custom Defenses. http://help.d20pro.com/UGGMOptions.html Simply enter them in that order. Fort. Ref. Will. custom defense. Then you can create an attack that targets any AC or Fort/Ref/Will defense.

Image rotation and/or Pointer rotation are currently supported. You can find how to use this feature at: http://help.d20pro.com/UGPlayManOther.html and make the proper Options Setting in the Judge tab http://help.d20pro.com/UGGMOptions.html.

Yes, 4e is becoming more popular on d20Pro, and we should update the DDI monster importer. I'm not sure on the timeline for completing since we are currently working on improving/updating the importer for HeroLab's 4e.

So, it's been a month. I've been using d20pro twice a week and have to admit I still love it. The use of imported maps and tokens really brings things to life. Handouts pop up right away and I haven't ever experienced a connection problem. Combat is fluid and I really appreciate being able to customize powers and descriptions.

It's not all gravy though. My players seem to have forgiven a lot of the differences between the WOTC DDI VTT and d20pro but one thing they can't forgive is the lack of a dynamic finger(mark) to point things out making a mark has been working but it can be cumbersome and slows the game for some of our less than computer savy users(I even went as far as to create a finger icon).

As a DM main beef is lack of Character and Monster Import. Man you guys are killin me. I'm actually scared of my characters leveling. I took a whole weekend to input all 7 players at 5th level. Monsters are no easier but thanks to an ocr program I'm saving some keystrokes. I bought Hero-Lab but fail to see how that program is supposed to help. Only the most basic stats seem to import anything more gives you an error and I could just as easily create them in d20pro.

As soon as I find a trusted spot to store uploaded data I'll begin posting my created creatures. We've finished Keep on the Shadowfell with d20 and are a 3rd of the way through Thunderspire Labyrinth. I'll have lots of 4e Duergar, ogres and orcs hopefully others can find the files useful.

Google Drive is a pretty good place to store stuff, they give you 5GB of online storage space free (no ads or pay plans to download quicker, though you can buy more online storage space). http://drive.google.com And you can create share links to share individual files, if you wish.

Those pointers graphics are really cool, if you don't mind sharing them could you send me ZIP'd up image files (.PNG) for each pointer? Or provide links to your photobucket where I could download them?

Regarding leveling characters, I'm with you there. I'm just glad some of my players also have Judge licenses and will send me their d20Pro native character and their Hero Lab portfolio each level. Then I can quickly check their character to see if they aren't trying to slide any funny business in there :p ("hey that ray gun is on my character sheet" type of stuff, lol). Sometimes, after a game session when people have leveled, I will just ask everyone for their new stats and enter them in right there. For those of us who use d20Pro to keep track of all combat and all spell effects... this is the single thing that takes the most of our DM/GM prep time.

Regarding the errors from HeroLab, it could be that you don't have all the add-on modules you need. If you're using an ability or whatever from the Advanced Player's Guide, you have to buy that HeroLab module separately in order for it to work correctly. I don't own HeroLab myself, but all my players do and I seem to remember that coming up before.

np man.. one of the hardest aspects of the typed word is that it is difficult to convey a lot of the things that make conversation work such as tone, body language, facial expression... it is super easy to mis read someone...
