I know you can click on the NPC token to bring up a "say" chatbox. When you chat from there. You are in character because the chat is from said character.

    BUT

Now I want to roll the dice like "in-character", maybe a dice game at the tavern, what ever....

How do I roll dice as that character or token on the board??

    Thanks in advance!

sorry, maybe my description is too cryptic.

    Sigh...

if I create a creature and instance exists in my create creature library.
Drag and drop the token to the map floor.
Double-click the icon and this window will pop up.
near the bottom there is a text field.
    "say>"
Sea of Moving Ice Encounter says "test"

what I want is the "say>" text field to have the same abilities as the lower text box.

when I type /roll 1d6 "the commend works"
GM [Monkworks] rolls a d6 for 5. ( on a sidenote why does it exclude the rolls a "*"d6 for 5?)

but when I open the token window and type /roll 1d6 Sea of Moving Ice Encounters says "/roll 1d6"

I don't think the token mini view say text box takes 'game log' switches. /roll, /tell etc

I think I'm confused, if you wish for a token to make a roll just open the character sheet and roll from the stat or skill just as a player would do.

this result is is done by double clicking on the blue dice for skills, or the red button for stats and saves.

I think he wants to include the dice roll in the text of his "say"..sorta combo RP and dice mechanics. "Gronk shakes his fists and lets the dice fly across the table* (roll 2d6)

But as Krilion has said, don't think you could do that. You could still say, and then click the core dice.

You guys are really responsive. Thanks

Yeah its an RP thing. I want to bring up the character sheet and roll an dice not a skill. Tay-Dor got it right.
    Ok I cant do that.

Let me ask the over arching question.

How do you guys handle encounter tables? I want the roll for the encounter to be seen in the log. other then just having a hand out with the table, I thunk it interesting to have the encounter table as a creature token called encounter table. I can bring up "encounter table and roll a dice..." that way the roll is recorded in the log.

I guess I could just type in the chat " encounter roll "/roll 1d6" but that's not as fun as having a token for that...

Its a jumping point for: is there customizable table system, with triggers?

I know you have to draw a line at one point in terms of "in scope".
But I see you have added a scripting lib.

it would be great to make my own random tables. Random encounter tables, or what ever. Directly from an adventure even.
Right now the baseline solution is a hand out that you don't hand out with your table of random encounters. There is no embedded roll and with a trigger that would at lest announce the encounter that you have scripted/rolled, from that table...maybe even script the roaster ?
is this all way out of scope? Not sure how to handle this.

I really like to make everything random in game. The events are more like random cannon stuff that could happen in the adventure, but placed in a tables that the DM can roll. Triggers automating a lot of stuff is very attractive as a DM.

    Just my 2c

Tokens can only roll, stats, skills and attacks.

/roll and core dice will log as the user or gm.

We will be doing table data at some point in the future, though I'm not sure where that is in the dev plan at the moment. I'll ask when we gather next.

    Also the Right-Click menu on the token may do what you are looking for though it will not roll core dice;

    Talk: Opens the Talk dialog.
    • Say (Ctl+S): Has the token /say the text.
    • Do (Ctl+D): Has the token /do the text.
    • Emote (Ctl+E): Has the token /emote the text.
    • Whisper (Ctl+W): Has the token /whisper the text.
    • Yell (Ctl+Y): Has the token /yell the text.
