Having tried d20Pro with an old gaming group, we liked some things and disliked others (posted the biggest concerns as Feature Requests already). Now, I'm new here and I'm wondering what the release schedule is like, how many developers there are on the project, and whether there is anything I can do to help new releases get out the door?

I'm a software developer by trade (10 years, mostly MS tech with a healthy dose of LISP for AutoCAD, but very little Java). I'd be happy to help with anything that needed doing, be it coding, expanding the help docs (well, the help web site), testing release candidates, tracking bugs, whatever. d20Pro does not appear to be open-source and I fully understand that you don't just pass out your proprietary source code to some stranger on a forum, so I'm content to just hang out and do non-code tasks as they're required until there's been some trust built up.

Basically, I can see great potential in d20Pro (especially after looking at other system-neutral Virtual Tabletops) but I want to help address one of the complaints my Players had in our test run - the app appears unpolished and they're not willing to buy into it yet. So the more I can help you accomplish, the sooner updates will come out and the more likely they will be to use the app.

Anyway, give it some thought and let me know what I can help you with.

    Hello Thorin,

First, thank you for your enthusiasm and vote of confidence in d20pro. I joined the team in a similar fashion - I was just a customer that saw a lot of potential in the software. We are working on a new release for the fall, but that's under wraps for now.

We can always use help with the community. We honestly need as much User Generated Content that we can get so that others who discover the power of d20pro can benefit. Maps, adventures, and guidance for other newbies - all of those will go a long way to helping out in a non-coding way. Also, if you wish to contribute to the official online manual (http://help.mindgene.com), I can give you an invite if you have a gmail account. Then you can make changes or contribute your own expertise to the knowledge base.

Our new update will be taking much of your feedback into consideration, along with some much needed changes from our perspective. Look for some more information at the summer Cons: Origins, GenCon, and DragonCon.

If you are attending Origins (June 24-29), maybe I'll see you there. I'm running events for 32 hours that week, but will probably be promoting the software every other minute of the Con.
